Gotland as an Island is of course only to reach by plane or ferry.

Ferry

The ferry (www.destinationgotland.se) is going from two places, Nynäshamn(1,5h from Stockholm) and Oskarshamn (a town more-less straight west from Gotland on the Swedish main-land). The local-traffic connection to Oskarshamn is not so frequent. Between Stockholm and Nynäshamn you have both the local traffic (www.sl.se) and direct busses (to book with the ferry-ticket) from Stockholm-main station to the ferry-terminal. 

For people coming with cars: observe that there are special offers on some of the crossing-times, where you pay a fixed price for the car together with up to 5 passengers. Most likely cheaper, even with a half-full car. Crossings with this offer are marked with a little blue corner on the timetable.

The ferry has to be booked in advance.

Plane

Flights from different places on the mainland to Visby, Gotland are offered from following companies:

The Visby airport is situated a bit outside town. No public transport-connection is given, a taxi has to be ordered. Hint – if you rent a car – the companies offer, for a smaller fee, to meet you with the car at the airport

Car

On Gotland you will need a car.
